Detailed description of Ruffled Feathers Golf Club

Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Lemont, Illinois.

Ruffled Feathers golf course first opened for play in 1992. The par-72 course was designed by Pete Dye.

Ruffled Feathers Golf Course offers unique and demanding holes in a superbly crafted, simply beautiful setting. The only Dye-designed golf course in the Chicago area, this premium golf jewel has been awarded Best New Course honors from Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines.

The creativity of the layout is evident in the holes; sculpted fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water, and beautifully framed and contoured greens.

Tucked off the main road, surrounded by beautiful homes, the setting and first class amenities of Ruffled Feathers often lead people to believe that it is a private country club. However this is a semi-private course, open to the public. However, Ruffled Feathers does offer Seasonal Golf Memberships.

Ruffled Feathers Golf Club facility plays to a maximum of 6,878 yards for a course rating of 73.1 and a slope rating of 134.

Hole #3. Tee shots should be placed left of the flagstick. The green is angled away from the player to the right and any shots drifting to the right are in danger of a watery grave.

Hole #4. Tee shots should favor the right center of the fairway to avoid water on left. A second shot between 180 and 200 yards will leave the player with a wedge into this long, narrow green.

Hole #6. This hole offers the player two options off the tee. The fairway to the right is the safest route, making this a three shot hole. The left side offers an opportunity to reach the green in two, but brings in an element of risk.

Hole #9. A tee shot to the right center of the fairway offers a clear view of the small, kidney-shaped green. A drive to the left side will leave a shorter approach, but mounding may obscure your view of the green.

Hole #11. This is the island green hole. The safe play is a tee shot to the center of the green. Players who find the water with their tee shots should take advantage of the drop area behind the green.

Hole #12. A tee shot down the right center will leave players a mid to short iron approach. The left side will reward players with a shorter approach, but will bring the large fairway bunkers on the left into play.

Hole #14. A 200 to 225 yard tee shot down the left side of the fairway will leave the player with a wedge shot into this small, undulating green. Approach shots carrying too far will risk entering the hazard behind the green.

Hole #15. A tee shot played at the tree on the left side of the fairway gives a good angle to reach the green in two, or the landing area in front of the green. Players going for the long, narrow green in two must avoid both trees on the right and the creek in front.

Hole #16. A tee shot 200 to 235 yards played at the fairway bunkers will leave a wedge shot into this small, undulating green. Players who drive into the hazard may take relief at the drop area in front of the red tee.

Greens were very difficult to read. Putts longer than three feet never went in, although we have handicaps in the high teens.
